Tromsø has a vibrant dance community.  There is not a night out on the town where social dance isn’t enjoyed.  Being part of such a wonderful dance family is certainly the highlight of dancing in Tromsø.  Without the people and their dedication dancing would be just dance – thanks to them dance is the life of Tromsø.

Casino Royale
Casino Royale is the Rueda dance studio in Tromsø.  The founders Nikolai and Svettlana hold Rueda classes on Tuesday nights in the city.  The studio supports many events throughout the year with performances and tuition, and is very active in the Tromsø dance scene.  L-Jay enjoys taking classes with Casino Royale for fitness and fun.  She collaborates with the studio for dance events and also guest choreographs on occasion.

No Siesta Fiesta
No Siesta Fiesta is Norway’s biggest Latin American Festival.  It is a celebration of culture and art with Latin flavour with artists from Tromsø, Norway and abroad.  L-Jay is a producer for the festival.  She has supported the festival in dance for the last couple of years with choreography, performances and tuition.

Salsademika
Salsademika is a dance studio in the city founded by Miguel Ramirez.  The studio provides tuition in Salsa, Hip Hop, Ballroom and Yoga amongst other dances.  It has a strong tradition on performance, hosts dance clinics by visiting artists and holds by-annual showcases at the Tromsø Kulturhus.  L-Jay holds course tuition for Salsademik on Wednesday nights.

Tromsø Salsa Congress
The Tromsø Salsa Congress is hosted by Salsademika.  The congress showcases Latin dance and brings national and international artists to Tromsø to hold clinics and performances.  L-Jay supports the congress with Latin dance clinics and  photography.

UiT danseklubb
UiT danseklubb is a club in the University of Tromsø Student Union.  Founded and lead by Erlend, the club provides basic tuition in all the dances of the city to give students an opportunity to dance, participate and perform at events and festivals.  L-Jay is the club’s resident instructor.  She instructs, choreographs and also trains beginner instructors at the club.  Tuition nights are on Mondays at the Student House Driv in the city.

Dansens Dag
Dansens Dag is Norway’s celebration of International Dance Day.  L-Jay organises and participates in events to celebrate the joy of dance with other dance studios in the city.  Dancing in the Tromsø Library, performances at Nestranda shopping mall, disco dance tuition at Driv and a dance performance on gå gate are just some of the past events held for Dansens Dag.

Wednesday Latin Dance Nights
Tromsø Salsa Club hosts dance nights at Campaigniet in the city.  L-Jay participates and also uses the night as a chance for beginner students at UiT danseklubb to ‘break in’ their dancing.  L-Jay also supports Tromsø Salsa Club’s annual Halloween party.
